
The Persons depicted in this stained glass window have built the Catholic Church in Southern Africa - especially in KwaZulu Natal. All of them are under the protection and guidance of the Holy Spirit presented here in the form of a Dove and of Jesus Christ whom his Mother Mary holds in her hands.
The description of the window.
1. Fr. Edward Mnganga - he was the first Zulu priest. He studied for his Priesthood in Rome, Italy- starting 1885.
2. The commemoration of the first Christian Marriage from among the local people.
3. Fr. David Anthony T. Bryant - he was an expert in Zulu - translated many books into Zulu and he compiled the first Zulu dictionary that was published in 1903.
4. Brother Stanislaus
5. Abbot Francis Pfanner in his younger age.
6. Abbot Amandus - the second abbot of Mariannhill Trapists
7. Cardinal Gotti - who helped during the transformation from Trapists Order to Congregation of Missionaries of Mariannhill.
8. Abbot Francis Pfanner in his last days.
9. The Dove that symbolizes the Holy Spirit - overshadows the work of the Missionaries.
10. Two Angels are holding the cope of Mary, the Mother of Jesus - that is covering the Missionaries, according to prayer: "Under your protecting mantle..."
11. Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ is holding her Child. Jesus in his left hand holds the Rosary - encouraging the people to pray Rosary, asking his Mother Mary for protection and intercession to God. Around the head of Mary are the starts according the vission in the Book of Revelation 12,1.
12. The commemoration of the first Baptism of the child.
13. The Chief Sakayedwa of Polela - he came to Mariannhill to ask missionaries to come to his people to establish school and teach children.
14. The children that were taught by the Missioneries.
15. Bishop Jolivet of Natal - he received the Trapists when they came in 1882.
16. Pope Pius X - who accepted the transformation from Trapists Order to new Congregation of Missionaries of Marianhill in February1909.
17. Precious Bood Sisters - that were funded by Abbot Francis. Here are presented: Sr. Natalia from the Mother House and Sr. Phillipine from Centocow Mission.
18. The inscription - "Sub Tuum Praesidium" - "Under your protecting mantle". These are the first words of the Prayer to Mary, the Mother of Jesus:
Under your protecting mantle, we take refuge, o Holy Mother of God, begging of you
not to disregard our petitions in our necessities, but to quickly deliver us
from all dangers, ever blessed and glorious Virgin. We humbly ask you to be our
|Lady, our Intercessor, and our Advocate. Reconcile us to your Son, recommend us
to your Son, bring us to your Son
