National Pilgrimage
of Sacred Heart Sodality

  The Sodality of Sacred Heart of Jesus was founded at Centocow Mission in 1895 by Abbot Gerald Wolpert of Mariannhill. Its spirit was one of prayer and concern for the poor. From here the Sodality has spread throughout Southern Africa.



 In 1995 the Sodality members has gathered at Centocow from all over the Southern Africa to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Sodality. Since that time every three years the Sodality pilgrimages to Centocow in June to celebrate together the love Jesus' Sacred Heart with the number of about 10000 of members participating.

The last pilgrimage was on 19 June 2004 and the photos show the celebration.

The chaplains of the Sodality from different dioceses prayed together for the whole night.

 

 

  

 

The combined Choirs of Umzimkulu Diocese, Centocow Mission together with Assisi Sisters were leading the singing during the celebration.

 

    

 


 

The next national pilgrimage of Sacred Heart Sodality will be on 15 June 2007
